Individual Mentorship Program

Qualifications:

• Early-stage faculty, senior residents and post-doctoral fellows
• Applications are reviewed by the departmental grant review committee. Three mentees are selected each year and they will receive $5000 as research support.

Metrics of success:

Formation of a mentorship team

• Program participants may do research with any investigator from the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
• Guidance is provided to identify the best mentor based on the applicant’s research interests and experience.

Evaluation

• Program participants must attend all CaDRE seminars/workshops except for instances of prior excused absences.
• Program participants should meet with director and select mentors quarterly to discuss topics such as work in progress, research time, research productivity and future funding opportunities.
• Program participants and mentors should complete and sign the Research Progress Report at 6 months after the initiation of the project.
• Program participants and mentors should complete and sign the final progress report (including a report of expenses) within 30 days of the project end date.
• Program participants should submit a federal grant proposal within 30 days of the project end date to the internal grant review committee for their feedback.
