Biography

Alia Warner, PhD, is an Associate Professor and Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She is the Managing Director of the UTHealth Psychosis Specialty Clinic and provides evidence-based psychosocial interventions for individuals with schizophrenia spectrum and related disorders. She previously directed the Recovery-oriented Treatment Program (ROTP), an inpatient multidisciplinary treatment program for individuals with serious mental illness (SMI) at UTHealth – Harris County Psychiatric Center.

Dr. Warner is highly involved in education and supervision of psychology and psychiatry trainees. She is also involved in various national and international organizations that aim to promote high quality SMI training programs, professional practices within the specialty of SMI, and dissemination of SMI research. She is a founding member and current board member of the American Board of SMI Psychology (ABSMIP).

Dr. Warner attained her PhD in Counseling Psychology from Florida State University and completed her internship in Clinical Psychology at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC). She sought additional specialized training as a postdoctoral resident at MEDVAMC via the SMI emphasis track. She is board-certified in Clinical Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) and SMI Psychology by ABSMIP, an affiliating specialty of ABPP.
