Biography

Jose A Arriola Vigo, MD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He received his medical training at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru. He then completed his residency in general psychiatry and fellowship in Consultation-Liaison psychiatry at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. In addition, Arriola Vigo also holds a Master of Public Health from Vanderbilt University.

After completing his training, Arriola Vigo joined the faculty in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he worked as an attending psychiatrist in the Homeless Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Service, adult consultation, inpatient and emergency services. His areas of expertise include adult consultation psychiatry, homelessness, and minority mental health. He is passionate about residency education and global mental health initiatives for trainees. Arriola Vigo has worked with academic institutions in South America, on the implementation and assessment of community mental health initiatives. He is an active member of the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (ACLP) and He is part of the Patient Safety Work Group in the American Psychiatric Association (APA).

Currently, Arriola Vigo is an attending psychiatrist in the specialty clinic at Lyndon B. Johnson (LBJ) Hospital- Harris Health System in Houston, Texas where he provides outpatient services.
