Biography

Omar D. Gonzales, MD, is an assistant professor in the Faillace Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Since serving as the chief resident of inpatient psychiatry at UTHealth from 2019-2020, he now works as a clinician and educator at UTHealth Harris County Psychiatric Center. His academic interests include the treatment of severe mental illness, graduate medical education, and humanism in medicine. He has a record of mentoring trainees at several levels, and he participates in the UTHealth Psychiatry Residency Curriculum Committee and UT Austin Dean’s Scholars Mentorship Program. He received the Ann Saunders, MD – Excellence in Clinical Care Award and a Medical Student Teaching Award.
