Salih Selek, MD, is an associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He is also the director of the Refractory Mood Disorders Program and leads the ECT Clinic and Ketamine Clinical Trials at UTHealth Harris County Psychiatric Center (HCPC). Selek is ranked one of the top international experts specializing in mood disorders and in the study and treatment of refractory mood disorders. His currently offers both inpatient and outpatient ECT (electroconvulsive therapy) services and outpatient ketamine infusion through an experimental trial for patients with treatment-resistant depression.

Selek received his medical degree from Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey in 2001 and completed his psychiatry residency training at Gaziantep University in Gaziantep, Turkey in 2007. Before joining the department in 2014, he served as the chairperson of the Psychiatry Department at Istanbul Medeniyet University, Faculty of Medicine. In addition, Selek has published 60 scholarly papers with over 600 citations. In 2008, he received the APA Young Investigator Colloquium and was invited to attend an International Fellowship by the Society of Biological Psychiatry.
