Heather Broussard, LCSW
Heather Broussard is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). A psychotherapist, she provides evidence-based psychosocial interventions for individuals with schizophrenia spectrum and related disorders.
Broussard realized her interest in psychosis during her education in Houston. She has participated in several cognitive behavioral therapy for psychosis (CBT-P) trainings and utilizes techniques focused on symptom reduction, improved functioning, and the development of coping strategies. She firmly believes that reducing stigma, making symptoms relatable, decreasing fear, shame, and encouraging insight can assist those living with psychosis to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives.
Broussard received her Bachelor of Arts in interpersonal and organizational communications with a minor in sociology from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She then received her Master of Social Work from the University of Houston. She completed clinical supervision across inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings to become a licensed clinical social worker.
She’s part of the UTHealth Houston Psychosis Specialty team in the Louis A. Faillace, MD, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at McGovern Medical School that assesses evidence-based treatments for schizophrenia spectrum disorders and conducts novel research to advance the science and practice.
