What to Expect
Q: If I go to the clinic, what will happen?
A: Every new patient is seen first for an initial appointment that takes about 1.5 – 2 hours. During this appointment, you will provide information on developmental history and current concerns. At the end of the initial evaluation, you will receive recommendations for next steps, which may include a second appointment for testing to confirm appropriate diagnoses. At the second appointment, you will be asked to complete questionnaires and do some activities that help us to get to know you more socially. In some cases, a more extensive evaluation including cognitive testing may be recommended. After this testing appointment, a comprehensive report will be written which includes results of testing, diagnostic conclusions, and recommendations for treatments or support. A feedback session can be scheduled if you are interested in discussing your evaluation with providers. Appointments are available via telehealth or in-person. Some testing can only be performed in person, however. Note: a number of student trainees will be present at each appointment. These range from postdoctoral fellows, psychology doctoral interns, and doctoral practicum students.
