Research Chair’s Welcome
Welcome to the division of research at the UTHealth Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences. Our collective mission is to develop and sustain a strong and multi-faceted program of research. Our focus is to promote and integrate both inpatient and outpatient research activities.
As a department we are actively engaged in several clinical research studies focused on understanding key factors in mental health onset, progression, and effective mental health treatment. These studies span the translational science landscape, and encompass many domains ranging from molecular, cellular, brain imaging and modulation, laboratory cognition, patient clinical trials, and public health outcomes.
Bridging participation in research efforts among faculty, staff, and trainees is a high priority for our department—in both our outpatient work and our inpatient services at HCPC. I am enthusiastic about our ever-expanding opportunities for patients to participate in research, and our overall research presence at the local and national level. I encourage you to further explore our department’s web pages to learn more about our current research studies aimed at leading mental health research into the next decade and beyond.
