Neuroimaging Laboratory
The Neuroimaging Laboratory, part of the Center of Excellence on Mood Disorders, investigates the neuropathological basis of mood disorders such as bipolar disorder and major depression. Under the direction of Jair C. Soares, M.D., Ph.D., our lab uses cutting-edge brain imaging techniques including structural neuroimaging, diffusion weighted imaging (DWI), functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) with novel imaging processing and advanced machine learning methods. The goal of the Neuroimaging Laboratory is to elucidate the pathophysiological mechanisms of major mood disorders which will ultimately translate into better treatments for patients with mood disorders.
Our current studies include:
- Searching for Endophenotypes of Bipolar Disorder
- Markers of Illness Vulnerability in High Risk Bipolar Offspring
