The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is at the forefront of research into the causes and treatments of mental illnesses. Our faculty and staff are nationally and internationally recognized leaders in their fields, receiving numerous awards for their work. Their research is widely published in peer-review journals and books. Specific areas of research include mood and anxiety disorders, early psychosis, trauma and grief, childhood disorders and addiction. These programs generate over $5 million annually in grant supported research.
