The Adult Inpatient Track

The Adult Inpatient Track is focused on intervention and assessment of acute symptoms. Interns within this track will provide brief individual therapy and facilitate groups. Interns will also have the opportunity to conduct services associated with the Recovery Oriented Treatment Program (ROTP) and shadow competency restoration services. While this internship track tends to primarily provide intervention services, psychological assessment training is available. Furthermore, trainees may have the opportunity to be involved in research studies conducted with patients by Psychology Services. Additionally, interns will participate in daily group supervision, weekly individual supervision, receive in vivo observational feedback for clinical training, and have opportunities to observe and learn from various psychologists/supervisors who conduct specialty services. Interns matched to the Adult Inpatient Track should be skilled with evidence-based treatments targeting severe mental illness and acute symptoms. Commonly presented psychological conditions include schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorders, mood disorders (e.g., major depressive disorder, bipolar I disorder), substance use disorders, personality disorders (e.g., borderline personality disorder), and various cognitive disorders.
