The Houston Psychosis Research Center

The Houston Psychosis Research Center at the Louis A. Faillace Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at UTHealth Houston is the first research center that leads and coordinates research, treatment, and prevention of psychotic disorders in the greater Houston metropolitan area. We conduct research on psychotic disorders including schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, schizophreniform disorder, and related disorders including bipolar disorder, depression, substance use disorders, etc.

Our primary mission is:

  • To support clinical and translational research and collaborations aiming at discovering the cause of and more effective treatment and prevention strategies for schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders.

To fulfill this mission, we utilize a wide range of technologies and tools, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), electroencephalography (EEG), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), genetic testing, biological sampling, activity and sleep tracking, behavioral tasks, clinical and neuropsychological assessment, and big data analysis.
