Study Description:
The purpose of this study is to investigate whether non-invasive transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) therapy will reduce symptoms of depression and anhedonia (lack of pleasure) in people with Bipolar Disorder. tDCS is a popular type of brain stimulation using a painless, wearable device, similar to headphones that delivers low-level electrical currents to the outside of the scalp. This placebo-controlled study includes clinical and laboratory evaluations, two MRI scans, and 14 sessions of tDCS free of charge. Eligible participants will receive a total of $650 as compensation for their time in the study, which lasts 6 weeks. There is also an optional open-label phase for eligible participants who choose to continue in the study and receive the treatment without the chance of placebo.
