This study is currently looking for people who:
- Are 18 years or older
- Can speak and read English and do not have an intellectual disability
- Have diagnosed autism spectrum disorder or Asperger’s
- Have social anxiety
Study Description:
We are looking for adults with autism spectrum disorder for a study focused on treatment of social anxiety using a new Virtual Reality application as a tool to support the treatment. Adults can receive weekly 1 hour individual treatment for social anxiety with a licensed psychologist for approximately 12 weeks. You can participate from your home remotely without the need to wear a VR headset. If you agree to take part, your participation will last for about 3 months and will involve 1 eligibility/enrollment visit (up to 2 hours) and 12 treatment visits of one hour each. To participate you must be age 18+ with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, experiencing social anxiety, without language or intellectual disability, without severe mental illness such as schizophrenia. You must be comfortable operating a computer. Participants completing the study can receive a Starbucks gift card.
