Education
The Colon & Rectal Surgery Residency Program at UTHealth McGovern School of Medicine provides an outstanding clinical experience with many unique opportunities including extensive training in minimally invasive surgery, both laparoscopic and robotic, anorectal surgery, and advanced endoscopy training with opportunities for research participation and more.
The training of 4 residents annually takes place over a 12-month period at four rotations throughout the Houston metro area. Our diverse faculty with backgrounds ranging from prior military to purely private practice are committed to resident education and expanding the frontiers of colorectal surgery with technical mastery and research. With strong collaboration among the faculty and residents, we are able to instill the knowledge and skills necessary to produce technically proficient and compassionate physicians ready and able to transition to independent colon and rectal surgical practice.
