LMSA Takeover
Students in the Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) met in Fort Worth, Texas, Feb. 4, for the LMSA Southwest 11th Annual Regional Conference. The conference featured around 200 attendees and featured a keynote address from Dr. Antonia Novello, the first Hispanic Surgeon General of the United States.
McGovern Medical School students were well-represented at the organization’s regional elections. Jose Barrera, MS3, successfully reran for his role as chief development officer, while Humberto Aparicio, MS3, successfully reran for his role as chief financial officer. Gaspar Pina, MS2, reran for his role as co-conference chair, and, Karla Madrigal, MS2, was elected as co-director elect and will serve as the co-director for the region in the 2024-25 cycle.
Additionally, Kelsey Medina, MS2, and Mariana Aparicio, MS3, joined the LMSA regional volunteer committee.
