Class of 2023 graduates April 28
Nearly 250 graduates will walk the stage as part of the Class of 2023 commencement ceremony Friday, April 28 at NRG Arena.
Emma Holliday, MD, associate professor in the Gastrointestinal Radiation Oncology Section at MD Anderson Cancer Center, was selected by the class as the featured speaker.
Holliday is known for her research in advanced radiology technologies, including proton therapy. In addition, she is a celebrity in the medical student education world. She graduated from The University of Texas health Science Center at San Antonio and completed postgraduate training at MD Anderson Cancer Center and UTHealth San Antonio.
“During her time at UT San Antonio Medical School, Dr. Holliday created and led content review sessions for 3rd year medical students covering the major clerkships,” said John Biebighauser, Class of 2023 president. “These review sessions were recorded, posted on YouTube, and still remain an integral part of clerkship studying and success for medical students.
“I don’t know if she intended to make such an impact, but these videos have hundreds of thousands of views. In her professional career as a GI Rad Onc, she remains committed to medical education, and we were excited to invite a local celebrity to speak to us for commencement. After four years of working hard together, the Class of 2023 is excited for commencement as we look toward residency, our future careers, and the patients whose lives we will impact.”
The event will be livestreamed beginning at noon, April 28 at nrgpark.conventus.live.
