Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Luis Ostrosky, MD, professor and chief of infectious diseases, has worked tirelessly to be a trusted voice of reason for many in the Houston area and across the country.

Because of his hard work, Ostrosky was recently honored with the Trusted Messenger Award from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ We Can Do This COVID-19 Public Education Campaign. The campaign is a national initiative to increase public confidence in and uptake of COVID-19 vaccines and educate the public about the availability of COVID-19 treatments while reinforcing basic prevention measures.
