Preventive Cardiology Forum scheduled for Feb. 3
Physicians, nurses, dietitians, caregivers, and other health care professionals with an interest in cardiovascular disease prevention are invited to attend the 34th annual Preventive Cardiology Forum Feb. 3.
The event will be held virtually from 8 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. Registration for the event is available by clicking here.
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of mortality and morbidity in the world. The prevention of cardiovascular risk factors is taking an enormous toll due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Healthcare providers may not be implementing all the current strategies and new information on cardiovascular disease prevention in hypertension, obesity, and diabetes.
Social determinants and cardiovascular risks in the United States may have future consequences within our diverse population. There is a need to provide physicians, nurses, and other health professionals with a comprehensive update on the clinical application of cardiovascular prevention strategies.
Upon conclusion of the Preventive Cardiology Forum, attendees should be able to:
- Recognize the interplay of genetic factors and correctable risk factors in progression of atherosclerotic diseases
- Identify three evidence-based dietary patterns recommended for cardiovascular health
- Apply evidence-based guidelines to the care of patients with obesity and associated co-morbidities
- Discuss the effect of vaccination in the prevention of cardiovascular events
- Review guideline recommendations for use of LDL-lowering therapies
- Use coronary calcification to assist in making decisions
