LRC features student art
The artistic talents of 16 McGovern Medical School students are on display at the Learning Resource Center.
“The LRC art gallery allows students to share their talents with the McGovern community and for all students to appreciate their classmates’ artistic abilities,” said Brian Crowley, MS3 and president of the Class of 2025. “Organizing this event and seeing firsthand just how talented our peers are was a powerful experience. This project reminds us how important it is to continue to feed our passions, even in the midst of our academic endeavors.”
The LRC hosted a gallery opening Wednesday, Jan. 17, to showcase the art and the artists, which includes Hrishabh Bhosale, MS1; Ryan Dervay, MS3; Paula Igwe, MS3; Efrain Amaro, MS1; Jacob Urbina, MS3; Bernardo Trevino, MS1; Rim Touhami, MS1; Fatimah Sunez, MS3; Brian Koehler, MS2; Aaron Lin, MS1; Leonardo Martinez, MS3; Aidana Omarbekova, MS3; Julia O’Gara, MS3; Rachel Nolte, MS3; Daniel Najar, MS4; and William McCarthy, MS1.
“The creativity of our students is amazing,” said Karim Marani, director of the LRC. “The LRC was built with gallery space, so this is a perfect venue for our artistic students.”
The exhibit, which features a variety of media – from photography to computer-generated art – will remain on display for one year.
“It is so impressive that our busy medical school students can showcase their creative sides in such accomplished works,” said Mark Hormann, MD, vice dean of Educational Programs.
