Hope Northrup, MD, is focused on developing medications for people with rare diseases like phenylketonuria (PKU). She discusses PKU and screening newborns for the disease so that treatment can begin as soon as possible to avoid brain damage.
Andrea Price, a PKU patient of Dr. Northrup, describes her experience battling the disease and how a medication tested at UTHealth Houston allows her to eat a non-restricted diet and enjoy life more fully.
