Applications open for Student & Trainee Travel Awards
The Office of Global Health Initiatives is accepting applications for the Student & Trainee Travel Awards for Global Health through Feb. 15.
The awards aim to provide students and trainees with invaluable opportunities to engage in global health work while fostering cultural humility and reciprocal partnerships. The Office of Global Health Initiatives hopes to empower the next generation of health care leaders to address health disparities and make meaningful contributions toward global health equity.
Applicants must be full-time students or trainees at a UTHealth Houston school. For travel requirements, travel must be related to global health education, research, or clinical settings with activities occurring in resource-limited settings to be prioritized. Travel must be for a minimum of seven days, and longer travel or travel with UTHealth Houston faculty members will be prioritized.
Awarded recipients must submit a written summary or reflection of their activities within 30 days of returning to the U.S. (minimum 500 words), along with 5-10 photos.
Up to 10 travel awards, each worth $1,000, will be awarded per fiscal year. Applicants will be notified of a decision via email within one month of the deadline, and awarded funds must be utilized before the end of the fiscal year, on Aug. 31.
