Institute of Perioperative Medicine to host inaugural retreat
The Institute of Perioperative Medicine will host its inaugural retreat from 8:30 a.m. until 8 p.m., April 18 at the TMC3 Collaborative Building (7255 Helix Park Ave.).
The inaugural retreat is hosted by Institute of Perioperative Medicine co-directors Cynthia Ju, PhD, professor and Joseph C. Gabel, MD, Chair in Anesthesiology, and Roy M. and Phyllis Gough Huffington Distinguished Professor; and Holger Eltzschig, MD, PhD, professor and John P. and Kathrine G. McGovern Distinguished University Chair in the Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Medicine, and vice president of Strategy and Development for Hospital-Based Programs.
The full-day event begins with the keynote address presented by 2019 Nobel Laureate Gregg L. Semenza, MD, PhD, professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and director of the Institute for Cell Engineering. The conference will also consist of five, hourlong lectures, a lunch poster session, and research presentations from individuals Institute of Perioperative Medicine centers.

The Institute of Perioperative Medicine is a research initiative dedicated to improving surgical outcomes and reducing perioperative complications. It aims to tackle perioperative organ injuries, a leading cause of post-surgical mortality and morbidity.
