In Memoriam: Paul H. Dahm, MD, MS

Paul H. Dahm, MD, MS, died April 14, after a battle with cancer. He was 49.

Working as an associate professor of pediatric critical care medicine at McGovern Medical School, Dahm also served as the medical director of the Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital.

A respected clinician and dedicated educator, he was deeply committed to improving the quality of care in the pediatric intensive care unit, particularly in efforts to reduce hospital-acquired infections. His research addressed critical issues in pediatric medicine, including severe sepsis, quality improvement in the PICU, childhood obesity, and asthma.

Dahm completed his Doctor of Medicine in 2006 at McGovern Medical School. He attended the University of South Alabama College of Medicine for pediatric residency before joining the McGovern Medical School faculty in 2013.

A devoted husband and father of two young children, Dahm was a gentle soul and a deeply caring physician and educator who left a lasting impact on the medical school’s critical care unit, including patients and their families, the fellowship program, and the medical transport team.

A celebration of life is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at the Bradshaw-Carter Funeral Home, 1734 W Alabama St. All who wish to honor his life and legacy are welcome to attend.
