Orthopedic Surgery to host pair of seminars

The UTHealth Houston Pediatric Scoliosis and Spine Symposium will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2.

The symposium will help participants develop skills to choose appropriate scoliosis treatments by considering curve severity, progression, and each patient’s unique needs, all within a collaborative, patient-centered approach. Attendees will learn practical techniques for early detection, thorough evaluation, and clear referral pathways, while also exploring how specialists work together to ensure accurate diagnoses. Real-world case studies will highlight common challenges and effective solutions in differential diagnosis.

The following day, the department will host the second annual Interdisciplinary Spine Symposium for the Primary Care Provider from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3.

The event will cover physical therapy options and algorithms for postoperative spine patients, as well as operative and nonoperative management of spinal stenosis. Attendees will also receive evidence-based guidance for performing therapeutic epidural procedures.
