New partnership expands faculty development resources

The Office of Administration and Faculty Affairs and the Office of Educational Programs have launched a first-of-its-kind collaboration to coordinate and elevate faculty development across McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.
Resources are available to support faculty wherever they are in their teaching journey and help guide their next steps. The initiative includes monthly educational development workshops to share best practices, explore innovative teaching strategies, and encourage collaboration among colleagues. Faculty also will have access to customized departmental workshops, online self-paced modules, and one-on-one consultations for personalized support.
Faculty seeking deeper, long-term educational development can participate in the Health Educators Fellowship Program, an 18-month course that focuses on teaching, educational scholarship, and leadership.
The offices offer a wide range of resources designed to meet the evolving needs of educators, whether they are just beginning or looking to grow as leaders in medical education.
The initiative, led by Nahid Rianon, MD, DrPH, Memorial Hermann Chair; Peggy Hsieh, MEd, PhD; and Allison Ownby, PhD, MEd; reflects a shared commitment to making faculty resources visible, accessible, and impactful.
Educator success is a schoolwide priority, and this collaboration will make it easier than ever for faculty to find the resources they need. To learn more about the initiative, watch a short video on the McGovern Medical School YouTube page.
