UTHealth Houston teaching hospital ranks fifth in Texas

Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, in partnership with McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, is among the top five Best Children’s Hospitals in Texas, according to the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Children’s Hospitals rankings.

The primary teaching hospital for the Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at McGovern Medical School, Children’s Memorial Hermann ranked fifth in Texas and sixth in the Southwest region.

“We are incredibly proud that Children’s Memorial Hermann has been recognized in the 2025–2026 U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals rankings,” said LaTanya Love, MD, dean of McGovern Medical School, H. Wayne Hightower Distinguished Professor in Medical Sciences, and executive vice president of Student and University Affairs at UTHealth Houston. “This achievement reflects the dedication and clinical excellence of our faculty physicians, as well as the strength of our academic partnership with our teaching hospital. Together, we are training the next generation of pediatric leaders while delivering world-class care to the children and families in our community.”

In addition to the overall ratings, five specialties at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital received national rankings. Pediatric cardiology and heart surgery ranked 19th among specialties in the United States, while pediatric gastroenterology and GI surgery (29th), pediatric neurology and neurosurgery (30th), neonatology (32nd), and pediatric orthopedics (39th) all ranked among the top 40 programs nationally.

Founded in 1986, Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital provides comprehensive care across more than 40 pediatric and women’s health specialties. The hospital offers advanced services in maternal-fetal medicine and neonatal critical care, along with nationally recognized programs in pediatric trauma, neurosciences, pulmonology, and cardiac care.

U.S. News & World Report’s annual Best Hospitals rankings evaluate hospitals nationwide to help patients identify facilities that provide exceptional care in complex and high-risk specialties. Rankings are based on objective data, including patient outcomes, survival rates, quality of care, and patient experience, with the greatest weight placed on measurable results.
