Champions of the Clinical Learning Environment

The Office of Professionalism at McGovern Medical School is launching a new Q&A feature series highlighting the Champions of the Clinical Learning Environment.

The series spotlights educators who have made a lasting impression on third-year medical students during clerkship rotations by fostering clinical learning environments rooted in professionalism, compassion, and academic rigor. Champions are identified through the Learning Environment Surveys, which are sent to students as an invitation to recognize faculty whose everyday actions have meaningfully shaped their clinical education.

Across departments, honorees are commended for their empathy, excellence, and commitment to creating safe, inclusive, and intellectually stimulating spaces for learning. From each clerkship, three to four faculty members are selected based on the depth and consistency of student feedback — affirming the powerful role of role-modeling in clinical education.

Through this Q&A series, which will appear periodically in Scoop newsletter, the Office of Educational Programs and the Office of Professionalism celebrate what matters most at McGovern Medical School and make visible the values that guide how future physicians are formed.
