Nominations for President’s Awards for Leadership set to close Jan. 26
Great leadership can be seen in every corner of UTHealth Houston, and nominations are now open for the President’s Awards for Leadership to recognize those who make an extraordinary difference.
Since 2006, the annual UTHealth Houston President’s Awards for Leadership have honored employees who consistently model effective leadership. Inspired by the late Michael J. Jimenez, former vice president of Human Resources, the awards highlight the university’s commitment to service, compassion, and ethical standards.
Three individuals will be selected: one faculty member, one management A&P employee, and one staff member. The recognition reinforces the belief that leadership is demonstrated through service to others, building consensus, and helping teams achieve their best work.
All employees, as well as groups, are invited to nominate deserving colleagues. The deadline for completed nomination forms is 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26.
Nomination materials should include examples and testimonials showing how the nominee demonstrates seven leadership traits:
- Excellent two-way communication skills
- A commitment to collaboration and productive relationships across the university
- Energy and enthusiasm for the work of UTHealth Houston
- Appreciation for the contributions of others
- Support for the professional development of colleagues
- A consistently positive attitude
- A commitment to ethics and doing the right thing
Each nomination section has a 400-word maximum and must include at least two examples or testimonials from named colleagues. Two additional sections ask for how long the nominator has known the nominee, with a 400-word maximum, and a synopsis explaining why the nominee is deserving of this honor, with a 700-word maximum.
