Faces of Dementia Exhibit
The McGovern Center for Humanities and Ethics has announced its newest art wall exhibit, “Faces of Dementia,” featuring the work of McGovern Medical School alum Cindy Williams-Ware, MD. This compelling collection of portraits honors individuals living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease while raising awareness about these conditions.
Williams-Ware is a graduate of the McGovern Medical School Class of 2000 and an internal medicine physician at the Medical Clinic of Houston. She collaborated with members of Care Partners to create this unique series. Each portrait began as a pencil sketch on watercolor paper, then participants added their own creative touch by applying watercolor in a monochromatic palette of their choice. Williams-Ware later completed the facial features, resulting in deeply personal works that celebrate identity, memory, and resilience.
The exhibit is now on display at the McGovern Center Art Wall, located on the ground floor of the Medical School Building, through Jan. 31.
