UTHealth Houston employees must immediately stop using Uber for all work-related travel after the rideshare company was placed on a warrant hold by the State of Texas.

Uber Technologies is currently under an active franchise tax hold, making the company ineligible for use for any university business purposes until further notice. The restriction applies to all Uber-related travel, including rides booked directly by employees, reimbursed travel expenses, and transportation arranged for visitors or job candidates.

Effective immediately, Uber may not be used in any capacity for official UTHealth Houston business. Employees are required to use approved alternative transportation options that align with existing travel and reimbursement policies.

The university will provide updates once the warrant hold is resolved and Uber becomes eligible for use again.

Employees with questions about allowable transportation options during this period should contact Charles Brian Hendricks, MBA, director of Payment Services within Supply Chain Management, at 713-500-8059.
