Faculty needed for LCME Self-Study Groups
McGovern Medical School is seeking faculty applications for a trio of committees supporting its upcoming Liaison Committee on Medical Education accreditation process.
The LCME Accreditation process certifies that a medical school is providing its students a high-quality education while preparing them for professional practice. Graduates must have an LCME-accredited degree to be eligible for licensure and residency training in most states.
The Medical School is establishing three committees called LCME Self-Study Groups, each with its own individual focus area that will cover all components with which medical students interact, including curriculum, faculty, and student services, to help prepare for the visit. These three committees will review McGovern Medical School’s compliance with LCME standards and elements ahead of the accreditation process.
Committee meetings will be virtual and run from March 2026 through November 2027. In addition to attending meetings, members will have a few hours of work in between sessions. Members also may be invited to participate in mock and live group interviews with external reviews in late 2027 and early 2028.
Project leads are Samuel Neher, EdD, director of Accreditation and Continuous Quality Improvement, and J. Chase Findley, MD, associate dean for Accreditation and Educational Quality Improvement, who will be coordinating the accreditation efforts and visit.
“A thorough representation of faculty from throughout the school will make sure we are fully prepared for LCME accreditation, which is essential to our mission,” Neher said. “Not only does it ensure the quality of our educational programs, it also safeguards our students’ ability to progress into their residency training.”
Interested faculty can complete the application process through Feb. 12. For questions, email Samuel Neher, EdD.
