The 2026 edition of McGovern Medicine, (external link) the annual report for McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, is now available online.
Centered on the theme of family, this year’s publication highlights the people, partnerships, and experiences that comprise the McGovern Medical School community. Through stories of discovery, resilience, mentorship, and service, the report showcases how faculty, staff, students, trainees, and alumni work together to advance education, research, and patient care.
“This year’s annual report celebrates what makes McGovern Medical School so special: our people. Every story reflects the compassion, innovation, and collaboration that define our community,” said LaTanya Love, MD, dean of McGovern Medical School and H. Wayne Hightower Distinguished Professor in the Medical Sciences. “I hope you’ll take a few moments to explore these stories and celebrate the remarkable faculty, staff, trainees, alumni, and supporters who make our school feel like family.”
Feature stories include a look at how two sets of twins navigate medical school, a husband-and-wife research team pursuing groundbreaking discoveries, students helping combat loneliness among older adults, and a young stroke survivor and her recovery journey. The report also highlights the many accomplishments and milestones that shaped the past academic year.
From the classroom and the laboratory to the clinic and the community, the 2026 annual report reflects the shared commitment that makes McGovern Medical School more than a place to work. It shows what makes it a family.
