Dean’s Dialogue set for Sept. 1

Members of the McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston community are invited to join Dean LaTanya J. Love, MD, and other school and university leaders for the next Dean’s Dialogue at noon, Sept. 1 in MSB 3.001 or online via Zoom.

The gathering will feature updates from leadership, opportunities to connect with colleagues, and discussions on important topics affecting the institution and community.

Dean Love will share key findings from the StandPoint faculty survey and discuss priorities for the year ahead. Attendees will also hear from Liam McElhiney, managing legal officer in the Office of Legal Affairs at UTHealth Houston, who will discuss recent developments related to the Dean’s Faculty Advisory Committee.

Monica Newland, MEd, director of Strategic Business Initiatives and Project Engagement, will also provide an update on the school’s strategic plan, Future in Focus, highlighting progress and ongoing efforts related to its priorities and initiatives.

In addition, Bindu Akkanti, MD, assistant dean of Clinical Education, will provide an update on the integration of artificial intelligence across the clinical curriculum, including how AI is being incorporated to support medical education, clinical training, and faculty teaching.

The Dean’s Dialogue provides an opportunity to hear directly from school leadership, ask questions, and stay informed about the latest developments across McGovern Medical School. Attendees are encouraged to submit questions (external link) in advance and take part in the discussion.

Lunch will be provided for the first 100 attendees.
