Nearly 160 attendees gathered at The Junior League of Houston on Sept. 23 for the fifth annual Aging to Perfection Endowed Lecture Series, featuring UTHealth Houston experts discussing advances in dementia prevention, early detection, and treatment. The event highlighted the importance of maintaining brain health through healthy lifestyle choices, managing cardiovascular risk factors, and staying socially connected.

Featuring presentations from Louise McCullough, MD, PhD; Anjail Z. Sharrief, MD; and Paul E. Schulz, MD, the program also explored emerging Alzheimer’s disease treatments and research suggesting that biological changes associated with the disease may begin decades before symptoms appear. The annual lecture series honors the legacy of Carmel Bitondo Dyer, MD, a pioneer in geriatric medicine and advocate for older adults.
