More students apply to UTHealth than any public medical school in Texas
We are home to an engaged and diverse student body – consistently named in the top 10 of Best Medical Schools for Hispanics.
The UTHealth Medical School is committed to providing the highest quality of education and training for the future medical leaders of Texas.
Our students learn the time honored and tested traditions of healing through the teachings of the John P. McGovern, M.D. Center for Humanities and Ethics, where Oslerian values are taught and practiced.
Out of more than 3,700 applicants, 240 first-year students are accepted to medical school each year.
We are the 7th largest medical school in the nation.
Through our innovative Surgical and Clinical Skills Center, students may test their educational training in a hands-on environment with robotics, virtual reality simulators, standardized patients, and mannequins, honing their skills before interacting with a true patient.
The Scholarly Concentrations Program is designed to enrich the student experience through learning and scholarly activities specific to an interdisciplinary health-related topic, which includes an independent scholarly project guided by a faculty mentor.
