Fellowship Applications (Three-Year GI Fellowship Program): The McGovern Medical School GI Fellowship ERAS annual application deadline is July 31st. All applicants are completely reviewed by the UT GI Fellowship Interview Selection Committee. Invitations for interviews are sent in August or September.
Candidates for the gastroenterology fellowship training program must complete three years of internal medicine residency in an ACGME-accredited program and be United States citizens, permanent residents, or hold a J1 Visa. H1B visas are not sponsored by this institution for graduate medical education.
ERAS & NRMP: The McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston fellowship in clinical gastroenterology participates in the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS) and the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Applicants must apply electronically through ERAS, no other applications are considered. Please do not email, fax and/or mail your application. A minimum of four (4) reference letters and a current photo are required.

The McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston GI Program is a three-year clinical fellowship with research. First-year fellows are accepted to the program each year. Each fellow will have a basic core curriculum involving rotations at each affiliated facility. Fellows, with a faculty mentor, are expected to participate in clinical research, basic research, or other scholarly activities. At the conclusion of the three-year fellowship training, the fellow will be a fully trained gastroenterologist who will be able to diagnose, treat, and manage all forms of gastrointestinal and liver disease and will be able to practice competently and independently in the field of gastroenterology.
