Two recent pieces—one about pediatric kidney care and the other about sex-based differences in post-trauma care—included quotes from Keisha Ray, PhD.
In the first piece, author Colleen DeGuzman discussed a recent article about the importance of access to specialized pediatric care, such as pediatric nephrology. Ray commented on dialysis centers’ transplant referral rates as a measure of the quality of care.
In the second piece, Jenny Blair discussed a retrospective study in which women were more likely than men to be discharged to long-term care versus home following severe trauma. Ray noted that, although the study did not intend to identify reasons for these disparities, bias could play a role.
