The McGovern Medical School Art Wall features paintings from Mathieu JN Baptiste.

Baptiste was born in Port Au Prince, Haiti, and is based in Houston. He spent his early years in Haiti and St. Paul, Minn. He studied art and photography at Ecole Nationale des Arts (Enarts), in Port Au Prince, resulting in a bachelor of arts in art history.

Baptiste uses paint and metal as tools to untie the world around him. He states, “This world is filled with confusions and misunderstandings as people struggle and strive in this beautifully, complex maze of life.” Baptiste’s art reflects the good, the hopeful, and the interconnectedness for a better world.

Baptiste is speaking on November 2 as part of the McGovern Center’s Arts and Resilience Program.
