Authored by Keisha Ray, PhD, a new article in the Journal of Bioethical Inquiry explores “When Black Health, Intersectionality, and Health Equity Meet a Pandemic.” Ray discusses inequities in Black people’s COVID-19 outcomes as an example of why we should think about “the conceptual and practical nature of health equity.” She expresses the need to acknowledge discrimination within social institutions that make individuals with intersectional identities particularly vulnerable to the effects of discrimination.
