Anson Koshy, MD, MBE, wrote “Art and Activism in Medical Education: A Modern Necessity,” which appeared in a 2023 issue of the International Review of Psychiatry. In the commentary, Koshy discusses artivism—the use of visual art to promote activism and foster meaningful action and change—presenting a brief history and rationale for use. Koshy also shares an example of how he has implemented artivism at McGovern Medical School through an Art and Storytelling sub-elective offered within the fourth-year course, Humanistic Elements of Medicine, at McGovern Medical School.
