Center assistant professor, Joelle Robertson-Preidler, PhD, recently published a paper, βThe Structural Inequality of Status Quo Clinical Communication (external link),β in The American Journal of Bioethics. In the article, Robertson-Preidler discusses that clinician communication follows medical mental models that may conflict with those of patients and their families, leading to epistemic injustice. Thus, a pragmatic approach to bridge these models must be taken.
