Nathan Carlin to give talks on his book, The Secularization of Medicine

McGovern Center director and professor Reverend Nathan Carlin, PhD, will give presentations related to his latest book, The Secularization of Medicine. The first invited talk is at Austin College as part of the Department of Religious Studies’ annual Allen-Head lecture series on March 5, 2026, at noon. Carlin will talk on the topic of Medical Humanities and Religious Ethics. The lecture series features nationally prominent speakers in the areas of religion, philosophy, psychology, history, and literature.

Carlin’s second talk will be the inaugural Ware Lecture at Austin Seminary. The lecture will be on April 22, 2026, at noon, and will be hybrid. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP. The Ware Lecture was established to promote discussions on the relationship between medical sciences and theology.
