A campuswide initiative to strengthen how future clinicians understand and engage with health policy will be highlighted this spring during a hybrid forum at UTHealth Houston.
“From Curriculum to Enculturation: Building Healthcare Policy Education for Health Professionals (external link)” is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 30 in the Beth Robertson Auditorium, 1825 Pressler St., with a virtual attendance option also available.
Through a series of talks and demonstrations, attendees will gain practical insights, explore outcomes and lessons learned, and discover ready-to-use curricular resources designed to support teaching and learning in health policy.
The forum will spotlight innovative health policy education initiatives developed through a five-year, campuswide effort that has reached nearly 20,000 students since 2021.
Presenters will discuss both the challenges and successes of implementing health policy education at scale, offering guidance for those interested in adapting similar approaches in their own programs.
In addition to formal presentations, the forum will also provide opportunities for those in attendance to connect with colleagues from across campus who are engaged in, or interested in, advancing health policy education.
The event is free and open to all members of the UTHealth Houston community. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for in-person attendees.

This event is a special symposium, sponsored on behalf of UTHealth Houston’s Quality Enhancement Plan, Healthcare Policy for Health Professionals (HP2) (external link), which is formally housed within the McGovern Center for Humanities and Ethics and led by an interprofessional team, including faculty from six of UTHealth Houston’s schools, a postdoctoral research fellow, and two co-directors.
