What inspired you to want to pursue a career in medicine?
First, I loved learning about the human body during grade school. Then in college, the meaningful experiences I had with patients while volunteering in the hospital inspired me to pursue a career as a physician, where I can be a leader in patient care.

Why did you choose McGovern Medical School?
I chose McGovern for its prestige as a leader in medicine and medical education, and I always grew up admiring the Texas Medical Center since I am from Houston.

What motivates you?
My ultimate motivation is my desire to have a positive impact on patients in the future. Additionally, as a first-generation medical student in my family, the support I receive from my family motivates me to work hard.

Who is your hero?
I have had many heroes to get to where I am today. First, I am grateful to God for giving me the opportunity to follow my dreams to become a physician. Second, my parents have always given me 110% of their countless support. Thirdly, there have been physicians, teachers, volunteer coordinators, and peers who have helped me along the way. Finally, my twin sister, Amanda, has been with me through this entire journey and has given me friendship for life.

What is your ultimate goal for your career in medicine?
My ultimate goal is to provide state-of-the-art medical care for all of my future patients while making sure that every patient feels that all of their concerns have been addressed with compassion and understanding.

What kind of emotions do you feel as you’re beginning medical school?
I am feeling joy that I will be learning my favorite subjects and am going to be surrounded by amazing peers and faculty who will help me grow into an excellent physician.

What are you looking forward to most about medical school?
I have always loved school, so I am most excited for the challenge of learning medicine, and I am looking forward to learning how to become a compassionate doctor at McGovern.

If you had to pick a medical specialty right now, what would it be and why?
Even though I have not yet decided on a specialty, if I had to choose now, I would pick Internal Medicine. I think it is inspiring how Internal Medicine hospitalists lead a medical team to cure patients with a wide range of illnesses.
