Today marks my first day as the dean of this great medical school. I am ecstatic to be here.
In years past, I knew UTHealth Medical School through reputation and through close colleagues whom I admire. Over the past several months, I’ve learned a lot more and understand that the medical school is made up of extraordinary people—outstanding leadership, wonderful mission-driven faculty, great students, residents, and other trainees. You are defined by hard work and a collegial spirit, with a strong commitment to clinical excellence, a commitment to forward-thinking educational programs, and a commitment to conducting research that matters to the patients and families we serve—fundamental basic science as well as clinical/translational research.
UTHealth is an amazing place. I look forward to learning more about the Texas Medical Center, our campus, our new curriculum, our various programs, our faculty, students, trainees, alumni, and friends. I am eager to immerse myself in this community, to meet people, to listen to your ideas, and to roll up my sleeves and start to work alongside of you. I believe in the power of collaborations and teamwork and will depend on you to guide me in these early days.
This is also a time for you to get to know me. I want to be responsive to your needs and am interested in continuous learning and improvement for our school and its programs. We’ve created a dedicated email (Dean.Stoll@uth.tmc.edu) for your questions and feedback.
Thank you for your hard work and trust. I look forward to taking on this new adventure together with you and hope to meet you in person soon.
Warm regards,
Barbara
