Pediatric otolaryngologist Shiva Daram, MD, MBA, has joined the Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery as an assistant professor at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. His clinical interests include airway surgery, sleep apnea and sleep disordered breathing, hearing loss, ear infections, chronic sinusitis, pediatric head and neck masses, and speech, swallowing and voice disorders.
A biomedical engineering graduate of Northwestern University, Dr. Daram received his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. While in medical school, he also earned an MBA with a concentration in health care at Rice University, where he was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, a business honor society recognizing the top 20% of the class. He completed residency training at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and went on to complete a fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.
Dr. Daram is a Diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and subcertified in complex pediatric otolaryngology by the board. He is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology, where he serves on the General Otolaryngology and Sleep Education Committee; the Society of University Otolaryngologists; and the American Medical Association. He is a reviewer for the Journal of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and an author of numerous peer-reviewed publications and two chapters in the textbook Case Studies in Otorhinolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery and Audiology. He has presented nationally and internationally.
In his free time, Dr. Daram enjoys swimming, reading, traveling and spending as much time as he can with his children.
