Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship or J1-Visa.
  • Completion of an approved 3 year Pediatrics, 4 year Medicine/Pediatrics.
  • Board eligibility/certification in general pediatrics from the American Board of Pediatrics

Specific Objectives

  • Training and direct experience in the delivery of medical care to pediatric gastroenterology and hepatology patients in inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Experience in the medical management of a variety of pediatric digestive and liver disease, including feeding disorders, eosinophilic esophagitis, inflammatory bowel disease, liver transplantation, and intestinal failure.
  • Training and clinical experience in gastroenterologic procedures, including upper and lower endoscopy, liver biopsy, breath hydrogen analysis, esophageal pH and impedance probe monitoring, rectal biopsy, and percutaneous gastrostomy tube placement.
  • Training and experience in the teaching of pediatric gastroenterology to medical students and residents.
  • Opportunities for research in the basic and clinical sciences in various fields of study in the Texas Medical Center as well as courses in our renowned Center for Clinical Research and Evidence-Based Medicine.
