Course Description

The Louis A. Faillace, MD, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, along with our chair, Jair Soares, MD, PhD, and co-course directors, Cesar Soutullo, MD, PhD, and collaborators from Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine invite you to join us for the 2026 Child & Adolescent Mental Health Update Conference.

This second annual conference will focus on childhood autism. Children can be diagnosed with earlier than ever before. Studies of young children with autism have identified risk factors as well as possible interventions to improve outcomes. Universal autism screening leads to earlier identification of autism by an average of 2 years. However, the success of screening efforts relies not only on consistent screening at critical points in time but also on (a) healthcare providers’ placement of appropriate referrals and (b) families’ completion of those referrals.

Despite growing awareness of the diverse needs of individuals with autism, there remains a significant gap in understanding how to effectively coordinate care for complex patients through a multidisciplinary approach. Current models of care often operate in silos, with limited integration between medical, behavioral, educational, and social services.

Join us to enhance your understanding of child and adolescent psychiatry at this year’s update conference! For any questions, please contact Senior Marketing Coordinator, Aaron Zapata.
