Message from the Program Director

Welcome to Houston and to the McGovern Medical School.

Our location within the largest medical complex in the world and our strong partnerships in the Greater Houston area offer trainees several unique opportunities. During my training here, I thoroughly enjoyed my rotations through the Memorial Hermann–Texas Medical Center, The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, UT Physicians Psychiatry outpatient-BBSB clinic, UT Physician specialty clinics and our inpatient child psychiatry units at the UT Health Harris County Psychiatric Center (HCPC). Each clinical rotation has been carefully selected to prepare you for a career in child and adolescent psychiatry in any setting.

As program director, I focus on training curriculum, board exam preparations and the outpatient psychiatry experience at the UT Physicians Psychiatry outpatient clinics. My primary goal is to ensure that child fellows are equipped to diagnose and manage complex child psychiatric conditions, and develop skills to educate and provide necessary support referrals to patients and family members outside the clinic setting. I look forward to being a part of your journey and to serve as an advocate and guide as you navigate training waters.

Sincerely,
Taiwo Babatope, MD, MPH
